"At the Edge" Closing Celebration

Upcoming Event: August 15, 2026

Please join us for the closing day of At the Edge at Shirley Fiterman Art Center on Saturday, August 15!

To celebrate the closing of the exhibition, artist collective The 181 will present a situational composition WITH YOU ALL THE WAY.

Realizing that travel complications would make it difficult for the collective to meet at the gallery on August 15, they began sending something through the mail between themselves. This “something” was then shipped to the Shirley Fiterman Art Center in a silvered tube that ice cores are stored in. Building on the collective’s ongoing fascination with ice core samples– used by scientists around the world to study variations in regional climates– The 181 offers a final closing composition in which a gallery attendant will open the tube, extract the unknown material inside, and place both the material and the mailing tube on top of the specimen case in the North Gallery.

At the Edge will be open from 12 – 5 pm on Saturday, August 15.
