Maya Deren: In the Cinema I Can Make the World Dance at Cinematic Portuguesa

Carolee Schneemann’s film, Fuses (1964-1967) will be featured in the Maya Deren: In the Cinema I Can Make the World Dance film series at Cinemateca Portuguesa on January 7 and 8, 2026.

This program offers multiple themed screenings highlighting Deren’s experimental films and their lasting influence. Fuses will be screened alongside films by artists who were directly influenced by Deren’s work, including Barbara Hammer, Stan Brakhage, Shirley Clarke, and Raymonde Carasco & Régis Hébraud.
