ICES STRIP / ISIS TRIP (1972) by Carolee Schneemann will be featured in Strip, a group exhibition opening on June 12 at P.P.O.W Gallery.

Strip brings together three works by Jimmy DeSana, Carolee Schneemann, and Martha Wilson that combine performance with photography and text as a method of establishing the body as medium within conceptual art. Framed within the context of the male dominated conceptual art movement of the early 1970s as well as the recent civil rights, feminist, and gay liberation movements, these performance-based works interrogate societal taboos and restrictions surrounding sexuality and gender in the art world and beyond.
